Hello there! Hello.

That person holding a waffle with a frowny face made out of blueberries is me, Vanessa Armstrong. I'm a journalist with bylines at places like The New York Times and Smithsonian magazine, and I created Tube Talk, a weekly newsletter for people who crave a little bit of weird in their life.

Tube Talk is not about waffles, although I did write indirectly about waffles once. What you'll get instead are surprising histories, thoughts on television's more offbeat fare, and stuff on books that will make your brain twist in unexpected directions.

I'll cover this in different ways: sometimes through deeply reported stories, sometimes through Q&As with people more interesting than me, and sometimes via roundups of stories I found fascinating.
